XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX THE WORKSHOP

Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in Boylston, MA will be the backdrop with its glorious fall colors of perennials and foliage for an intense two day workshop on the theory of color, including the Munsell Color System, and the practical application of color mixing.  The focus will be upon how to mix nature's many greens, how to mix subtle vibrating grays that are a painting's glue, and how to mix clear, brilliant color using a limited palette.  In addition, small quick studies will stress how to achieve that all important desired atmosphere through the harmony of color relationships - small canvases or supports 5x7 - 8x10 for quick studies, larger ones for mixing color. The workshop content is based on the concepts and practices contained in Charlotte's book "The Language Of Energy In Art: Finding Your Vision".

Artists of all levels working in oils, watercolor, acrylics, and pastels will gain inspiration from the breathtaking views and extraordinary light quality at this location. Workshop Fee: $180*  (5 Openings)

*  Includes daily admission

Note: The number of attendees is limited.   

Registration:

Individuals who wish to pay by credit card can pay through PayPal.

Individuals who want to pay by check should email Charlotte Wharton at: charlotte@charlottewhartonstudio.com to insure there is space available. Ms. Wharton's workshops are limited in size and fill up quickly. Charlotte Wharton Studio will send an email back and, if space is available, will reserve a place in the workshop. The reservation will be held seven days pending the receipt of the workshop fee. Payment may be made by check to: Charlotte Wharton, 594 Chandler Street, Worcester, Massachusetts 01602-1731.

Upon receipt of payment, Charlotte Wharton Studio will send out the materials list, further instructions, and directions.

Cancellation Policy:

A full refund less a $25.00 cancellation fee will be given to those students that have to cancel their registration thirty or more before the workshop starts. No refund will be given for cancellation within the thirty day period, unless Charlotte Wharton Studio is able to fill the vacancy.

Accommodations:

There is a large number of lodging options within the Worcester and Boylston areas. Charlotte Wharton Studio will assist out of town students in finding lodging.

Many magazines have described Charlotte’s manner of painting, but none more poignantly than the Worcester Quarterly’s 2006 article Souls On Canvas: Portraits By Charlotte Wharton Get Beyond Likeness, “… Her gift of versatility ranges from sought after loosely rendered private portraits to dignified corporate portraits befitting the boardroom ...”.

Charlotte, PSA, Copley Master, is also well known for her loose calligraphy executed in her genre paintings and landscapes. Her portraits and non-commissioned works hang in many national and European private and corporate collections. Ms. Wharton has a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts from Clark University, summa cum laude. She has received advanced studies with the country’s leading portraitists, Aaron Shikler and Everett Raymond Kinstler. Her work has garnered over five dozen awards including The Copley Society of Boston’s Gold Medal Award For Excellence In Portraiture and the Oil Painters of America’s Award For Excellence In Painting in 2004. Selected works have been reproduced in three Rockport Press Art Books: Portrait Inspirations (also on the cover), The Best Of Oil Painting, and The Best Of Pastel in 1997 and highlighted in the Artists Magazine. She has been featured many times on WGMC-TV. Charlotte was awarded a summer’s study in Dinan, Brittany, France by L’Association les amis de la Grande Vigne in 1996. In addition, she has participated in one-person and juried group exhibits in Italy, France, Russia, the British West Indies and across the United States where she has also taught workshops in portraiture and landscape.

In her workshops, Charlotte encourages and guides each student/artist in developing or furthering their own unique interpretation of nature. The workshop content is based on the concepts and practices contained in Charlotte's book "The Language Of Energy In Art: Finding Your Vision".
