The Heritage America Art Workshops are coordinated by the Society of Figurative Arts and designed to give students a significant art experience as well as being fun. The workshops are purposely located in historic venues with large bed and breakfast options and local activities.

Jefferson, Texas is such a venue. Historic, with fantastic plein air scenes, a significant bed and breakfast industry, and a small town warmth make Jefferson a perfect place for the workshops. The plans for the workshop will at least include wine tasting, a bayou cruse, a dinner or two at unique local restaurants, and happy hours where all of the students from the three workshops can socialize. Other plans are in the works. The two other workshops are:

"Heads, Faces, and Features" Multimedia workshop by Michael Mentler

"Still Life" Oil Painting workshop by Timothy C. Tyler

Jefferson, Texas:

When you visit Jefferson, Texas, you take a journey back through time to a bustling 10th Century river port, an era of prosperity and wealth, of petticoats and parasols, of Southern grace and romance. Today's Jefferson is reminiscent of its heyday, with antique shops lining the original brick streets, horse-drawn carriage tours, and even a trip on a steam paddle boat.

History enthusiasts come to Jefferson for an authentic experience, to walk among well-preserved buildings and tour the beautiful, Greek revival homes, touch the artifacts and see the museums, and maybe hear a ghost story or two. Couples come to unwind, unplug, and reconnect in the Bed & Breakfast Capital of East Texas. http://www.visitjeffersontexas.com/
