Charlotte has exhibited her artwork internationally and has won more than four dozen top awards in juried shows. Her outstanding work has been reproduced in Rockport Press books, Artists Magazine, and the North Light Book Club Magazine.     "Luscious Figurative Interiors"

Paint luscious figurative interiors of charm and expression. Learn how to bring meaning to your paintings using the language of artistic energy. Study will include and go beyond the standard elements of design to cover the interpretation of the inherent energy of shape, linear directives, value patterns, color relationships, the Munsell color system, texture, and the choice of marks. Instructor demonstrations and critiques at the easel will be provided daily. A group critique will follow the end of the class. All levels.

.             "Outdoor Portrait/Figure"

Learn to make visual poetry of the portrait/figure in the landscape. Charlotte Wharton will demonstrate how to transition beyond the elements of design, composition, color, and value to impart emotional content to painting.

Students will sketch and create finished work of the figure outdoors in various light conditions and study its components: cool overall light, sunlight, reflected light, diffracted light, and shadows.

Instructor demonstrations and critiques at the easel will be provided daily. A group critique will follow the end of the class. All levels.

Using the language of artistic energy, learn how to bring meaning to your portraits and go beyond capturing likeness. The workshop will include and go beyond the standard elements of design to cover the interpretation of the inherent energy of shape, linear directives, value patterns, color relationships, gestures, texture, and the choice of marks. Also, Charlotte will discuss the "business" of commissioned portraiture, including client relationships, marketing, contracts, etc. Live models will be provided. Lectures, instructor demonstrations, and critiques at the easel will be provided daily. A group critique will follow the end of the class. All levels.

Learn to appreciate the value of painting outdoors and bring meaning to larger studio landscape paintings through the language of artistic energy with Charlotte Wharton, a founding member of the Plein Air Painters of New England.
